Removing the background from pictures

  1. Insert the picture to your slide.
  2. Click the picture.
  3. Go to the ribbon to the Format tab which just appeared.
  4. Click Remove Background button.
  5. Expand the area of selection.
  6. Use Mark Area to Keep button to improve what PowerPoint highlighted to keep.
  7. Use your cursor to select this area.
  8. Use Make Areas to Remove button and do the same thing for area you want to remove.
  9. Right click on the image.
  10. Choose Format Picture option.
  11. Select Soft Edges.
  12. Change it to 5 Points.

Inserting screen clipping

  1. Go to the ribbon to the Insert tab.
  2. Click Screenshot button.
  3. Choose Screen Clipping.
  4. The mouse arrow changes into a cross.
  5. Select the part of your screen which you want to capture.
  6. Part of your screen is inserted. Now you can format it as a common picture.

Tip: You can do it for multiple screens as well. It that way just select your screen before clicking the Screen Clipping button.

  1. Go to ribbon to the Insert tab.
  2. Click Pictures and insert some image from your hard drive.
  3. Go to the Picture Tools menu to the Format tab which just appeared on the right side of ribbon.
  4. Click Artistic Effects button and choose Artictic Effects Options from the list.
  5. Format Picture menu appeared on the right side of your screen.
  6. Click Artistic Effects button and choose one the the effects.
  7. Depends on chosen effect you can set parameters such as Transparency, Pressure, Size, Pencil Size, Intensity, Brush Size, Radius, Grid Size, Grain Size, Scaling, Crack Spacing, Smoothness, Number of Shades, Detail.

Rapid generation of photo album

You have plenty of pictures and want to quickly create a photo album. Here it is how to manage in this situation.

  1. Go to ribbon to the Insert tab.
  2. Click the Photo Album button and select New Photo Album.
  3. A dialog box appears. Click File / Disk to upload pictures from the hard drive.
  4. Select pictures which you want to add to your photo album by ticking checkoxes.
  5. Set the order of pictures using up and down arrows.
  6. You can also click Text Box button to add an additional slide with a title.
  7. If everything is ready click Create.

Compressing pictures

This trick helps you to reduce file size.

  1. Insert a picture and click it.
  2. Go to the ribbon to the Picture Tools.
  3. In Format tab click Compress Pictures.
  4. New dialog box appears. There are several options here:
  5. Apply only to this picture option could save your time.
  6. Delete crooped areas of pictures option should be ticked.
  7. Target output makes size of your pictures smaller. Set as low as you can. Not recommended if you need high resolution.

How to remove the background of a picture in PowerPoint?

  1. Click once your picture.
  2. Go to ribbon to Format tab (make sure you clicked a picture).
  3. Click Remove Background.
  4. PowerPoints trys to gues which part of picture you want to keep.
  5. Use Mark Areas to Keep and Mark Area to Remove buttons to mark proper areas.
  6. Click Keep Changes to confirm.

Tip: PowerPoint is not a graphic tool. Better effects you can gain in Adobe Photoshop application.
